What is Active Counselling?
Active Counselling is a dynamic, person-centred approach where sessions take place while walking outdoors in a natural setting. This combination of movement and therapeutic conversation can help create a gentle rhythm, ease the intensity of face-to-face dialogue, and provide space for clarity, emotional release, and self-reflection – benefiting both mind and body.
Before starting, we go through a pre-agreed contract, which forms the foundation for our work together. Walking sessions are held in mutually agreed local areas, allowing us to move freely while engaging in therapeutic work. It’s counselling in motion – a way to support emotional well-being while enjoying the benefits of being active.
I offer a non-judgmental, professional, and safe environment where you can explore what’s troubling you without fear of criticism, rejection, or blame. The therapeutic process can be challenging and transformative, and while it takes time, many people notice positive changes in how they engage with life after even a relatively short period.
I have experience working with young people and adults facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and family or personality-related issues. I understand that it takes courage to seek help, and I’m happy to answer questions by email or arrange a call to discuss any concerns – without obligation to commit.
How Sessions Work
I offer therapy sessions online via Zoom or in person while walking, with booked appointments. I work in an open-ended way, allowing the therapeutic relationship and session direction to develop naturally. Progress is regularly reviewed to ensure the client’s evolving needs are met.
Your First Session
After an initial consultation on Zoom, I will email my terms and contract to review and sign before we begin. In the first session, we will discuss what you’d like to achieve, review our agreement, and address any questions. From there, we work together to explore your concerns, understand your experiences, and find ways to navigate and make sense of troubling emotions.
